I don’t think I can stress this enough, but here goes. Saging your home is about more than just waving strange smelling smoke around and letting it fill the air. Sage does have its own purifying qualities, but without intention and belief, you’re not going to be ridding your home of anything.
Emotional state: I’m okay
Mental state: Still okay as well
In my opinion, sage is one of the best cleansing methods out there. It’s been used for thousands of years by SO MANY people and with good reason. When I sage, I go through my home, saying a personal spell that helps cleanse and keep out negative or harmful energies. You have to put your belief and intent into what you’re doing, otherwise, the cleansing won’t work very well.
I try to sage our home at least once a week, although that doesn’t always happen. You can always tell when it’s been awhile since a space has been saged or cleansed, especially if you’re sensitive to energies.
People and objects are going in and out of your home and as someone steps in, unless you have a cleansing barrier up, their energy will linger in your home long after their gone. That’s why it’s important to cleanse your area. Even if you don’t have a lot of people coming to your home, clearing bad or stagnant energies away is a very good idea. You don’t want those harmful vibes lingering.
Truly any kind of sage will do. You may find that you prefer certain types over another, and that’s okay. As long as it’s burning and as long as you are seeing, believing, and giving your full intent of cleansing, you will be good to go.
Also, if you ever doubt sage or have never heard of it, give yourself some time to research it. It’s something everyone should give a try.
