Don’t Forget To Meditate

Emotional level: 6

Mental level: 7

TODAY I LEARNED: It was actually “Flavor Aid,” not “Kool-Aid” that poisoned the suicidal members of the Jonestown Massacre.

So…lately I have been slacking when it comes to meditation. I can never stress just how important daily meditation is, and yet some days I’m just too tired or I can’t find the time. But really, I need to be doing it as much as possible. Even if we’re simply doing 10 minutes a day, meditation is key to having a healthier mind. I know that a lot of people find it difficult to meditate.

We feel that it’s hard to try and clear our minds when our thoughts are racing a million miles per minute. We can’t seem to just turn it off. When I’m bogged down on the thought highway, I try to remember that when meditating, you don’t have to try and clear your mind completely. That’s kind of impossible and frustrating as hell. Instead, try your best to focus on just one thing while meditating.

Most people choose their breathing as a point of focus. Others use colors, images, places, objects, or whatever makes them feel safe and comfortable.

You might feel that meditation does nothing for you. But, for some of us, meditation takes a while. You have to stick with it and sometimes you may even need a longer session because that’s just how it works.

Meditation takes longer with some people and that’s okay. Doing it everyday is what counts. Personally, any time I skip a day, I can tell a difference. It affects my ADHD and especially affects my depression and anxiety. I start to realize that I can’t process energies the same and the thought process really starts going down hill. 10 minutes of meditation every day has really helped with that. It will make you feel like a different person.

But life is difficult and sometimes we forget or we seriously do not have time and that’s okay. It’s alright if you miss a day or two as long as you remember to jump back in when you find the time.

So don’t beat yourself up about missing a few days. We all have our lives to live and sometimes it gets crazy. In fact, don’t beat yourself up at all. Be kind to yourself and be mindful and the thoughts that pop up in your head.

If you happen to be a person who doesn’t like the silence so much, maybe try some active meditation. Take a walk in the woods while focusing and reflecting. Do some yoga and help clear your body and mind at the same time. Just do some type of physically active meditation. Also, be sure to do your research. Knowing your meditation style and how to do it matters. It’s worth it to have a better, clearer mind. I hope everyone has a wonderful day, and remember to drink water! Seems silly and small, but it helps!

Blessed Be )O(
