Don’t Take The Good Days For Granted

Emotional level: 6

Mental level: 7

TODAY I LEARNED: There is a radioactive bog in Ireland that contains 30 to 40 tons of uranium.

When times are tough and you just can’t seem to catch a break, a good day can seem like a miracle. It’s in those moments, just after all the horrible things we’ve been through, that the gratitude starts to sink in.

But when it comes to good days happening often, as humans, we tend to take them for granted. We don’t always forget the gratitude, but when we do, it seems like life has a way of reminding us.

To be grateful is to appreciate all that you have in this very moment. For instance…I’m very thankful to be alive today. I’m thankful for the ability to walk. It may seem like a small thing in this moment, but truly, to walk is a gift. To be alive is a lasting reminder that we are still going strong and we still have time.

All these gifts everyday and yet somehow, at times, we forget just how lucky we are. It’s normal and it’s going to happen because we’re human, but we should fight the urge to take things for granted.

I’ve thought about gratitude a lot today. When I first woke up, I decided that I would be thankful for quite a few things like the fact that we live in a country that allows us to take warm showers, or showers in general, really. I was thankful that I don’t have to fear for my life every time I walk out the door.

You can look all around you and you’ll find things to be grateful for.

Most of all, gratitude helps us to feel and be better. It soothes and eases our struggles by reminding us that our lives are worth living. Also, comparing our lives to others gets us nowhere. Realizing your own abundance is enough.

So, the next time you’re at a frustrating point in your life, take a moment to truly think about all the things you have in this life, big and small. Like the fact that you’re breathing right now or even the fact that you are wearing shoes. It’s simple and small things that matter just as much as the big things.

Don’t take the good days for granted because the good days are what make the bad days better. Live and be grateful.

Blessed Be )O(
