TODAY I LEARNED: A single cloud can weigh more than 1 million pounds.
The slow season has arrived, and man has it been exactly that…slow. I’m not complaining though because this past year was very fast paced. Honestly, I could use some down time. Rest is certainly important. Today we’re going on a thrift store adventure, so we shall see what we can see!
I’m going to be doing something new here soon. This year, one of my new year’s resolutions is to get out and see more and take more pictures. So, I’m going to do just that. Today is the first day of the new diet…and you must start somewhere. It’s definitely going better than I planned, but day one is a breeze compared to day two…so we shall see how this goes.
You know…there’s a lot going on in the world right now. Between government shutdowns, political arguments, scandals being revealed, and natural disasters, it’s kind of hard to keep up with all this crap. And yes, I said crap. It’s true that all these events are very important and will one day be history, but if you let it overwhelm you, the important events just become jumbled crap. It serves little purpose but to make you anxious and depressed. It’s better to take things one day at a time.
Sometimes it’s best not knowing what goes on in the world. Rarely do I watch the news for the simple fact that it’s severely depressing. There’s still hope out there, but due to the focus of the news industry, it’s few and far between. Disaster and chaos are spread out everywhere. If you’re feeling completely run down from all of this, it makes sense. The energy of the world is insane right now! We live in a world where being connected constantly is often inspired…but I’ll tell you a secret. You don’t always have to be connected.
Disconnecting can be a very good thing. It helps to quiet your mind and filter out thoughts and emotions that just don’t serve your greater good. For example… this past week I’ve made it a point to put down my phone while I’m at home. I keep it on for emergencies, but I don’t look at it until I go to bed. Sometimes that’s all I need. I don’t always do this. It’s just something I’ve tried this past week and it’s been great. However, sometimes I need to distance myself from all things electronic and sit and meditate. I’m on a rant today and it feels really good to just get all of this out. Bottom line though is this: you can’t always be connected and be 100% happy. It’s just not possible. You will be overwhelmed beyond measure and eventually break. So, take the time to disconnect. Be by yourself with nothing but your own thoughts. It’s healthy, it’s needed and it’s wonderful. Even just 10 minutes of some peaceful meditation can go a long way.
Blessed Be )O(
