Letting Go of The Past

Emotional level: 6

Mental level: 6

TODAY I LEARNED: The world’s oldest dress was found in Egypt and it is 5,000 years old.

Luckily I’m out of the depression well I was in yesterday. It took a while, but after a few good shows, well deserved company from my significant other, and good old fashioned time, I’m feeling better.

Yesterday I did a special prayer for a couple lost loved ones. I have no idea why but they were popping up in strange ways. Then, two people I’ve put in my past were popping up as well.

It’s really hard to lose those you love. Whether they pass away or you have to distance yourself because they’re just not good for you anymore, it’s hard.

I think I got over the jitters of distancing myself a few months ago. It took a good while before I was used to the feeling of losing…well anyone or anything really. I don’t think you fully get used to that. I don’t think it’s possible.

But a sad truth? Sometimes it must be done. You put people in your past so you can move on and become the best version of yourself. At times, that requires you to let the toxic ones go. It may suck to call them toxic, but call it what it is, because it’s not doing you any good pretending or lying to yourself. Let them go.

I promise there are better relationships out there for you to form. Ones that will, no doubt, help your soul out and make you happier than you could imagine.

And those relationships could happen any number of ways. You could meet a soul mate on a passionate and loving level. You could meet your very best friend or friends. It’s really all up to whether you’re willing to shed your old skin with all your old habits.

It’s hard to do. I’m still in the process. But I have found better friends along the way and learned a lot. There are so many lessons that come from getting rid of old ways.

If there was any type of advice I could give on a normal day, it would be to embrace the new you to the fullest. It doesn’t matter if it’s scary, dive in with all you have.

We live long human lives, but at the same time, life is short, and we have to do what matters the most to us. Most people will find that means letting go of the old and letting in the new, no matter the want for change to cease.

Because change is going to happen regardless of our wants and what we do. Time will pass no matter the lifestyle you’ve chosen. Time is going to keep going, so do something worthwhile with yours.

It’s kind of like that Lord of the Rings quote by Gandalf…

“‘I wish it need not have happened in my time,’ said Frodo. ‘So do I,’ said Gandalf, ‘and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.’”

Blessed Be )O(
