TODAY I LEARNED: A full grown bear can run as fast as a horse!
This time of year is always so busy. People run to and fro trying to find the right gifts to give to their loved ones. It’s during this rather bustling time of year that most people find themselves in states of panic and disarray. Why is it that we are always in need of “things?” Don’t worry, this isn’t going to be one of those posts about how things don’t bring you happiness. It’s more about the constant anxiety that sticks to the holidays like a leech. I know I’m not the only one who experiences this chaotic type of stress. It just grows the closer it gets to Christmas. Worst of all, while you’re feeling this stress, the people around you are acting like it’s supposed to be this wonderous thing 24 hours a day for a whole month.
I don’t mean that Christmas is only stressful because it’s many other things as well. I get excited when this time of year comes around and it truly is a magical for many. But the stresses that come along with it can really rip you apart if you let it. Most people have a perfectly fine time figuring out their gift ideas and fitting everything in for Christmas time, but not everyone is so lucky. All I can say is, thank God for websites. Online shopping really reduce so much involved with the holidays like social anxiety, worry, money issues, etc… The list goes on and on.
Lately I’ve been meditating at least ten minutes each day. I find it unusually calming. I’m not used to how great it makes me feel. It’s unusual to have such a fitting thing in life and it works for everything. Whether you’re sad, mad, depressed, or even downright angry, meditating can really turn your mindset around…if you’re willing to sit and be calm. However, it’s hard to get into the habit of doing something that sounds so boring, believe me, I get that. But we can’t let that keep us from doing it. Just ten minutes, every single day. That’s not a whole lot of time when you think about it. Just try it and I promise you’ll see a difference.
So, if your events, family, friends, or situations are just too much, or will be too much here soon, take some time away from all the chaotic energy and just relax. Find a place where you can really sit down and be calm. Relax your muscles, sit in a comfortable position, and just focus on your breath. Do this for ten minutes. And be well. Sometimes ten minutes is all it takes. Other times it takes a little longer. Meditate for however long you feel you need it. 😊
